Season: September – March
Description: 5 Pin Bowling is by far the highest participation sport in Special Olympics BC. Although there are some modifications made for athletes with physical disabilities, most athletes compete under the same rules and circumstances as those on a professional tour. As in all Special Olympics sports, athletes are grouped in competition divisions according to ability level, age and gender.
Coach’s Comments: 5 Pin Bowling is the highest participation sport because everyone regardless of their ability can participate. The North Shore has one of the best run bowling programs in B.C.
Number of competitors: 80 dedicated bowlers out of over 4000 province wide.
Number of competitions: 7 from Vancouver Island to Vernon
