YEARS INVOLVED WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS:  Nine years with my daughter and the last five years in a position.

WHAT IS YOUR VOLUNTEER POSITION:  Program Coordinator, Cross Country Ski Volunteer

HOW YOU BECAME INVOLVED:  It started with ordering swim suits for the swim team (which my daughter participates in) and next thing I knew, I was attending a weekend course learning the position of Program Coordinator.

WHAT YOU LIKE ABOUT VOLUNTEERING:  I like being part of a program that enriches peoples lives by providing opportunities and experiences they normally may not have had.  I enjoy the comradeship I have formed with athletes and other volunteers and sharing the excitement and joy with athletes in their sports.
As a volunteer at SO you always feel like a rockstar – everyone welcomes you and is happy to see you.  It’s a good feeling.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OR EVENT AS A VOLUNTEER:  Attending my first Provincial Games and witnessing the excitement of all the athletes.  I especially enjoyed seeing my daughter on the podium being awarded her medals – she was so excited and proud as were we.
