Sue Gardiner

Years involved with Special Olympics: Two and a half years

Sport(s) you coach: Swimming and previously Golf

How you became involved: My sister in law, Nikki Tilley, invited me to help out with the Walk a Thon in 2007.  I came down to help out and loved the spirit of the athletes so much that I decided to volunteer with the golf program that summer.  I enjoyed the golf season so much that I signed up to help out with swimming the following September.

What do you like about coaching Special O athletes:  Special O athletes emanate an infectious spirit.  They are super dedicated, hard working and ultra enthusiastic.  I love seeing the athletes improve their skills and attain their personal bests in the pool.  Coaching with Special O has been a great pleasure.

Best accomplishments:  Helping four of our local athletes qualify and train for the Provincial Games.
