YEARS INVOLVED WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS: I’ve been volunteering with Special Olympics for eight years.
WHAT IS YOUR VOLUNTEER POSITION: I am currently one of the coaches for alpine skiing and I’m the equipment manager/coach for athletics (track & field). I have also been involved in the walkathon since it’s inception and have worked on other fundraidsing initiatives.
HOW YOU BECAME INVOLVED: My son Jesse is involved in swimming, alpine skiing and athletics.
WHAT YOU LIKE ABOUT VOLUNTEERING: I love the enthusiasim the athletes all have.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OR EVENT AS A VOLUNTEER: My most memorable moments are attending games. Probably the best one was the national summer games in Brandon. The weather was perfect and the city was very hospitable. The provincial winter games in Kamloops and the the provincial summer games in Comox were also memeorable events. I look forward to Abbotsford.
