YEARS INVOLVED WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS: I have been involved with the Special Olympics for 14 months.
WHAT IS YOUR VOLUNTEER POSITION: I assist the athletes with Softball, Floor Hockey, and Track & Field.
HOW YOU BECAME INVOLVED: A good friend suggested I get involved with the Special Olympic program when I moved to BC. Her son is an athlete with the Special Olympics in Ontario and she told me how amazing and rewarding the program was.
WHAT YOU LIKE ABOUT VOLUNTEERING: Smiles. I just love to see the sheer joy on the faces of the athletes when they are competing. It is awesome to be part of the experience.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OR EVENT AS A VOLUNTEER: My most memorable event so far was the floor hockey B team regional qualifier in Langley on March 13 & 14th. It was such an inspiration to see the team play so hard and play so well.
